Mercedes-Benz decided to electrify all of its car classes and announced the new generation of the Citan, which in the electric version will bear the name EQT, which at the same time announces the new T-Class. The latter will still be developed in cooperation with Renault.
Mercedes presented the successor of the Citan model, a close relative of the Renault Kangoo. It will be available with gasoline, diesel and electric drive, and a new name, or rather an entire class, has also been announced. This is how models with internal combustion engines will be called class T, and the electric version will have a label EQT and will be visually different from other versions. It is in the pictures of this post electric EQT.
The concept Mercedes-Benz EQT shows the electric version of this light commercial vehicle, which will also be available in a delivery version, but mainly as a family car with plenty of space in the passenger version. In terms of appearance, the production version will have very similar lines, with differences reduced to bumpers and slightly larger LED headlights, while the electric version will retain the front fascia with 3D effect. Exactly as you see it in the pictures.
Of course, the side window frames, sunroof and door handles will be standard, but the standard version probably won't be able to be ordered with the large 21-inch alloy wheels shown on the concept.
Interior details will vary from Kangoo, Mercedes but he announced that all versions will have MBUX system, which means that the multimedia screen will be standard and the same as in the larger Mercedes-Benz brothers. The seats will not be covered in white nappa leather, but in a durable, wear-resistant material that is easy to wash. The greatest emphasis is, of course, on the spaciousness of the vehicle.
There is no detailed information about the drive motors yet, nor is there any exact information about the battery in the electric version, so we will have to wait for the production version. But the new T-Class or EQT could be an interesting alternative for both families and small businessmen reaching for these types of vehicles. Of course, electric will be especially interesting for companies, as an investment relief. In the future, no credits will be charged for electric vehicles for private use.
