Motion Silhouette – an interactive picture book of light and shadow

Art with the help of light and shadows probably developed already when the caveman discovered fire. Today, Japanese artists Megumi Kajiwara and Tatuhiko Nijima are reviving this art for us in their interactive picture book Motion Silhouette.

Every day there is a new idea in the field of interactive books, but the simplicity and excellence of this idea is absolutely fascinating - right cut paper and some paper inserts and experience with Motion Silhouette it's really interactive. Kajiwara and Nijuma wrote on Tumblr: "Trees become bigger and bigger" when you move the light and "the story changes depending on the falling shadows." Depending on the environment you are in when reading the book, the images you create with the help of light and shadows also change, thus changing the story again and again. The shadow is a impermanent element that returns to its original state as soon as you decide to read the book again.
