The new BMW M5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a measly 3.4 seconds, under the hood hides 600 German horses that promise a top speed of 305 km/h.
The BMW M5 is here! The wait is over! For all fans of the brand with the blue badge it presents BMW M5 divinity, that something that happens only every 7 years. The reincarnation of the absolute deity of the road. And BMW this time he exceeded all expectations and offered the fans what they asked for. Or rather, what development required. Namely, electricity is honestly breathing down the neck of the good old classics.
Of course, it is the best of all time. There is no doubt about it. The engineers took the heart of the old one and squeezed more out of it with new grips. The heart still beats 4.4-liter biturbo V8, which in M5 (2018) means just 600 horsepower or (447 kilowatts), which are available between 5600 and 6700 revolutions per minute, and so on 750 Nm of torque. The latter number is significantly higher compared to the previous model, which was only able to do so 677 Nm.
With an additional 25 horses, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a pinch 3.4 seconds and will definitely push himself to top speed 305 km/h, if you remove the block, which is factory set at 250 km/h. For the first time, the power is sent to the road as standard to all 4 wheels via the M xDrive system, which can still be set to various programs. That's also why you'll still be able to draw donuts with it. BMW is on the M5 the joy of road savages retained the possibility of driving horses on only the last pair of wheels - in the program 2WD it's rear-wheel drive only. The automatic transmission is standard and, as usual, 8-speed. Of course, it has standard programs, as we know from all modern Bavarians – Efficient, Sport and Sport Plus.
The exterior follows what has already been seen and expected. A subtle but noticeable difference with the previous model. It seems to pretty much sum it up by model as well M2, especially in the part of the front diffuser. The car looks more powerful and for a shade larger than its predecessor. Certainly with the design of this generation 5 we have no problems at all. They are available as standard 19-inch wheels made of light cast iron, with an option 20-inch rims, in both versions shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. In any case, we have no doubt that most will reach for larger rims, as they add some visual charm to the car. Bigger is better here!
At BMW as usual, nothing is free. So the list of accessories is yours M5 can be as long as you have tolerances on your account. Buyers can opt for ceramic brake discs, which reduce the overall weight by as much 23 kilograms. In general, the car is much lighter than its predecessor 90 kilograms. Partly also due to the use of a carbon train, various polymers and modern compounds and a lot of aluminum. The body should also be much stiffer than its predecessor.
Inside, the sporty details continue, such as the special M5 steering wheel, seats and upholstery, which together give an even sportier feel. Carbon and carbon compounds they are also visible in the cabin through the multitude of details, which emphasizes the feeling of sportiness even more.
In general, it seems the interior M5 extremely finished and as we expected. The sense of futurism is emphasized by the large screen, which of course works both by touch and through BMW-system iDrive. Gesture control is also not missing.
New ones BMW M5 will be available for good ones 117,900 euros. You can order it from September, but you will most likely not receive it until spring 2018. M5 First Edition, which you see in the pictures, will be made in a limited series of 400 examples and will be available to buyers worldwide. This kind of color choice will cost you extra 19,500 euros. A lot or a little? I leave the answer to you. There is nothing rational about this car anyway. Just love at first sight, which is completely logical. We will see it live at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
