The Cupra brand presented a compact, fully electric car called Born. It is designed on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID.3 and is available in three different power electric motors and with three different sized battery packs.
After the Formentor comes the new Cupra, this time in an electric version. Brand new Cupra Born is based on the group's MEB electric platform and will be available with an electric motor that develops 110 kW (150 horsepower) and a more powerful electric motor with 150 kW (204 horsepower). Both will develop the same torque, 310 Nm. From 2022 onwards, Born will be available with a so-called package e-Boost, which will increase the power of the 150-kilowatt motor to 170 kW, or 231 horsepower. The e-Boost package will be able to be combined with the maximum capacity battery 77 kWh (acceleration from 0-100 km/h is 7 seconds and a range of up to 540 km) and a smaller capacity battery 58 kWh (acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and a range of up to 420 km). The smallest battery will have capacity 45 kWh and will offer up to 340 km autonomy. Only this will be available only in connection with the 110-kilowatt electric motor. At Cupra, they say that we will be charging via a fast charging station with a power of 150 kW, for further ones 100 kilometers routes, needed 7 minutes.
Despite the electric base, it retains the Cupra Born sports character. Dynamic chassis control will help him in this DCC, sports suspension ESC Sports, progressive steering, bigger brakes and wider tires on 20-inch rims (18- and 19-inch rims will also be available). It probably goes without saying that the Cupra Born has a distinctly sporty design. The compact size is expressive and the sharp lines still give it some edge. The 'wild' headlights, sporty bumpers and connected rear lights are becoming a trademark of the Cupra brand, and the Born proves that even compact electric cars can look sporty.
Inside, it will already be available as standard equipment 12-inch screen, and it will also be available colored projective screen with enriched reality, which enables a higher level of connectivity and greater security. The sports steering wheel will of course carry two indispensable Cupra buttons. The interior is full copper details, but maybe he'll think about it bivalves sports seats that are manufactured in cooperation with the organization Seaqual Initiative. Only these are made from recycled plastic that has been collected from the sea.
Cupra BornThe compactness of the car was mentioned, but to make it easier to imagine, we reveal to you that it will measure 4.322 mm, was 1,809 mm tall and 1,537 mm wide. The trunk size will be 385 liters. The Cupra Born will be available towards the end of 2021.
