Nissan pulsar - a worthy competitor to the "big" VW golf

This year's most anticipated new car from the land of the rising sun is definitely Nissan's return to the C-segment, in which they have practically been unsuccessful for more than a decade. With the Pulsar, Nissan has bold plans, because in the fall they want to compete with the best in the segment - Volkswagen Golf, Opel Astra and Ford Focus.

Today, Nissan premiered the first official photos of the new Pulsar model, with which they plan to make a grand return to the C-segment. Expectations of competing with the biggest competitors in the segment also testify to the bold plans.

For the exterior, the designers looked for inspiration in the current generation Qashqai and at the same time continued design language started with this model, which will soon adorn most of the newly presented models of this brand, including the upcoming one X-trail. The Pulsar is 4.385 meters long, which means that it is 11.5 centimeters longer than the Golf. The wheelbase is also above average, which with 2.7 meters between the axles promises a very spacious interior, which should even compete with many D-segment models in terms of knee room for passengers in the second row.

The interior is a mixture of design concepts from the qashqai and note models, and there will be quite a few design parallels with the interior of the X trail also announced for this year. The factory states that they also paid great attention to the quality and selection of materials and finishing. In the field of safety, it is expected to get all the advanced technology and assistance systems known for Nissan vehicles, led by Nissan's "safety shield", which combines most of today's known assistance systems and a 360-degree camera system. Of course, Nissan's infotainment system will also be part of the equipment Nissan connect, which, in addition to other connectivity, will also enable Google's new send-to-car function, as well as many smart applications to ease driving or control consumption. The novelty will also be represented by new front lights, completely composed of LED lights.

As expected, Pulsar also inherited the engines from the recently introduced Qashqai, which means that the base on the petrol side means 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine, which develops 85 kW or 115 hp, and on the diesel side, the well-known 1.5-liter dCi, which develops 81 kW or 110 hp. At the beginning of next year, the range of engines will be enriched by a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine, which will develop 140 kW or 190 hp. The choice of most engines will be a six-speed manual transmission or Nissan's version of the CVT automatic transmission called XTronic. The production of the version that will be sold in the EU markets will take place in Spanish Barcelona, and the start of sales is planned for this fall.

Pulsar's exterior is strongly reminiscent of the recently introduced Qashqai, and the headlights will also be able to shine only with the help of LEDs.
