One of Nissan's more robust SUVs - the X-trail model - has moved into more mod(er) waters in the third generation, as evidenced by a more pleasing image and less robust design, and it is now closest to the qashqai in terms of design and technology. For now, only one engine is available, combined with two drives and gearboxes, and prices range from 26 to 40 thousand euros.
Nissan X-trail is one of the most important models for Nissan's off-road division, as it was, in addition to the Pathfinder and Navara, the most affordable model in the current model range. In 13 years, it entered their salons in its own way 1.7 million customers, who wanted an off-road capable, yet everyday useful vehicle. But the story is a bit different with the third generation, as this one is first and foremost at home on asphalt, but only eventually and if necessary it can also turn off-road. The sales plans are also much more ambitious, because it is sold in 190 countries worldwide, per year they plan to sell half a million specimens.
The best of both worlds they say
When developing the model, they relied on the best of what the previous model had to offer and only upgraded it with a more fashionable and attractive exterior, since in this segment it is said to be more and more often the decision to buy. By doing so, it approached the design of the Qashqai model, which is a great market success story, which they want to repeat with a larger model, which is also a replacement for qashqai+2 model. Basically, it will be available with five seats, against an additional payment 820 euros, and will be installed in the trunk of the buyer two additional hatchables.

It is made on a completely new platform and despite being in length grew by eight millimeters, 90 kilograms lighter from the predecessor. The weight was reduced, among other things, at the expense of composite materials and a smaller and lighter turbo engine. Compared to its predecessor, there is a longer wheelbase (+ 76 millimeters), which brings more centimeter comfort. The biggest difference compared to its predecessor is noticeable in the second row, where is for concrete 10 centimeters more room for the knees, and the seats are arranged in style layouts in cinema halls and theaters, where each row of seats is placed a little higher, which significantly improves the view ahead.
The front seats have developed US space agency Us and contribute to a more comfortable and less tiring drive. The rear seats fold into the flat bottom of the trunk, which allows nine different cargo transport configurations, which can be loaded in three levels with the help of a partition waterproof shelf. The second row of seats is longitudinally movable in the ratio of 1/3 and 2/3. The last one lateral the door opens at an angle of 80 degrees. If we fold the seats in the second and third rows, and the passenger seats in the front, we can in X-trail we transport objects to length 2.6 meters.

One engine, two gearboxes and drives
Customers can choose between three equipment packages, but initially it is only for sale one power unit, which replaces the two-liter diesel unit in the previous generation X-trail, and improves emissions and consumption by almost a fifth. A case of 1.6 liter turbodiesel, which is the result of a collaboration between Renault and Nissan and develops 96 kilowatts of power (130 hp). It is characterized by high torque (320Nm), which is already available at low revs. Power to the road is transmitted by manual six-speed gearbox or new X-tronic automatic transmission. There is a choice of two-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD). Second year is coming 1.6 liter turbo petrol power unit with manual transmission and 163 horsepower.
The Slovenian importer plans that next year the new X-trail will get 250 Slovenian owners. For comparison, the X-trail in its first two generations convinced 771 Slovenian buyers. The majority of sales should be represented by the mid-level equipment (Acenta) in combination with the Nissan Connect system. The seven-seat version is expected to account for a tenth of sales.
Combined with two-wheel drive and a manual transmission, it costs at least 26 thousand euros, the automatic transmission is available from the second equipment package onwards and costs at least 29,270 euros with 2WD drive, the cheapest version with four-wheel drive it costs 30,080 euros.
