On the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, we find the Sultanate of Oman, a country that may at first glance seem like a travel mecca, but in reality it is exactly that. It is one of the most advanced countries, which are also among the safest in this part of the world.

The coastal country, which borders the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, is not one of those with fabulous oil reserves, but it belongs to the very top of the most developed countries. Also, Oman belongs to the most peaceful countries, despite the proximity of countries in which the storm of war is raging. Due to its location, many travelers completely forget about it, but those who manage to explore Oman put it at the very top of their travel lists. Traveling around the Sultanate is extremely easy, the people are incredibly friendly, and the infrastructure is enviably good.

When to Oman?

We recommend visiting between October and April, when the temperatures are more pleasant than in the unbearable summer months. The worst heat occurs in July and August.

What should I see in Oman?

The capital of Oman is Muscat, which is ruled by the majestic Sultan Qaboos Mosque. This is considered the most important modern religious center of Oman, and it is distinguished by its beautiful architecture with incredible details. It was built only in 2001, and its magnificence is also evidenced by a large gilded dome, numerous minarets, unique lamps and a huge central crystal chandelier. The fortress is also something special Nizwa Fort, located a short drive from Muscat.

The stunning fortress was built in the 17th century, and even today you can admire its mighty exterior and luxurious interior. Nature lovers will also find themselves in Oman. It's a real attraction Wadi Shab, a gorge of many emerald green lakes, in which you can also cool off in the summer heat. It is located an hour and a half drive from Muscat, and a boat will take you to the starting point, then you can walk around the neighborhood. Among the most uninhabited areas is the Jabal Akhdar mountain range, which offers beautiful views of the peaks and true tranquility. You need a good all-terrain vehicle to visit this area. Animal lovers should not miss the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, in the east of the country, which protects endangered green turtles. As many as 20,000 females are under their protection, and they come to the nearby beach every year to lay their eggs.

It is another natural wonder of Oman Wahiba Sands, a desert that is part of the great Arabian desert. Here, too, you need a good all-terrain vehicle, and don't forget a sufficient amount of water and food before going into the desert. The best time to visit the desert is between October and March, after which the temperatures become unbearable. Camping is also organized in the desert, from where it is easy to reach the magnificent sand dunes. One of the most beautiful things is the night sky, which is full of stars due to its remoteness.

Musandam Governorate is a small part of Oman that lies completely separate from the rest of the country, as they are separated by the United Arab Emirates. It is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and clean sea. When visiting Oman, you should definitely not miss the local markets, where there is no shortage of interesting events. Muttrah Souq consists of a series of small shops selling local products, from traditional clothes to jewelry and souvenirs.
