Paradise for kitesurfers at the Neretva estuary

We are already deep into the summer season and this year we are also exploring the beauty of the Adriatic coast, its towns and islands, popular and less popular locations, and the most beautiful beaches and bays. The delta of the Neretva River is known above all for its numerous mandarin plantations and delicious watermelons. In recent years, it has also become a real kitesurfing center. Kiting in Croatia is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a summer kite destination in our immediate vicinity.

The Neretva originates in Bosnia and Herzegovina below Zelengora and flows into the Adriatic Sea near Opuzen and Ploče. It was there that the river formed an area of about 20,000 hectares, which is visited by more and more tourists every year.

Today, the Neretva delta is a protected area with more than 300 different species of birds, making it the second largest ornithological collection in Europe. In the last ten years it has become one of the most popular cities for kitesurfing in Croatia, but it is also called "Croatian California" because of the many mandarin plantations and other Mediterranean cultures.

Sand beach it is a popular destination for locals in the summer months, but in recent years it has become increasingly popular among tourists as well. The water is shallow, making it a popular choice for many families with small children, and the dense pine forest right next to the beach is great camping location. There is also a beach bar on the beach, where you can refresh yourself, and there are also excellent swings in which you will definitely want to 'lay down'.
