Plastic? No thanks.

Whether it's a small change in your everyday life or supporting projects that really strive to make a difference, you too can contribute to a world with less plastic.

Here is some tips, how to eliminate plastic from everyday life.

When you bought a Dopper bottle, you not only thought of a partner for life, but also took care of our environment. The purchase directly supports the foundation Dopper, which funds water and sanitation projects in Nepal through the charity Simavi and their local partner NEWAH. The foundation also organizes the Dopper Academy, which organizes educational programs on water and (plastic) waste.

Cosmetic products without plastic

Some cosmetic brands are taking the "plastic-free" initiative very seriously and thus include reusable packaging in their offer, reduce the amount of plastic in their products and recycle. One such brand is The Ordinary, which has pledged to completely phase out plastic by the end of the year. Aveda, Kiehl's Burt's Bees and L'Occitane they are also opting for aluminum and sugar cane fiber packaging instead of polymers. Lush among other things, he changed half of his liquid products to solid ones and opened his first "naked" store in Milan this year.

If you consider that we use as many as 300 toothbrushes in our life, it makes perfect sense to choose a plastic-free toothbrush instead of regular ones (we should use around 100). There are even biodegradable toothbrushes on the market, such as The Natural Family Co.

Edible utensil

Indian company Bakeys is developing take-away utensils and packaging made from seaweed that you can eat. In the meantime, you can ask your takeaway provider not to include single-use plastic utensils in your order.

No plastic straws

Plastic straws are also on the list of things to be completely banned. The fact that they are to blame for being on this list we throw away more than 8.5 billion per year. So instead look for plastic-free straws: glass, paper, bamboo and stainless steel straws.

Fashion with (a) conscience

You probably already know how much plastic the fashion industry contributes to our oceans. But fashion brands are slowly starting to correct their mistake. G-Star for example, has started producing sustainable denim, as well as H&M uses sustainable materials (for example from old fishing nets). It is the same in the market a large number of smaller brands focusing on sustainable fashion.

Plastic as a means of payment

The Plastic Bank (plasticbank.org) is a global chain that accepts plastic for recycling as a means of payment on a blockchain system. You can even pay your school fees with it, or you will be issued a voucher for the desired service.

After shopping with your own bag

Did you know that the average Slovenian uses between 150 and 300 plastic bags per year? It is a more environmentally friendly choice your own sustainable shopping bag, which should become a constant companion in all our purchases. The company also encourages this HOFER, because as the first major retailer in Slovenia, it enables the purchase of a sustainable bag, made from Fairtrade cotton. With the purchase of each bag, customers make a contribution at the same time 5 cents for cleaning Slovenian waters. Definitely a more environmentally friendly choice and the right decision for a better tomorrow. Today for tomorrow.
