Plastic ocean project: 24 portraits at the bottom of the ocean that will make you think

It is no secret that we live on a planet that is barely breathing through its gills due to human actions. And what would humanity be without zealots who really care about the Earth and try to warn us that our "hands" have destructive consequences? Andreas Franke tackled this with the help of the Plastic ocean project.

Kudos to the artists who have been with with the help of various media, they draw attention to problems, which are happening on our planet! Austrian photographer Andreas Franke he went about it in an extremely different way – on 50 meters he installed the depths of the sea underwater exhibition Plastic ocean project, with which he wants raise awareness of the devastating consequences of plastic for the Earth.

Such a feat is not for everyone, so the exhibition was viewed only by the brave who dared to swim to the depths (up to 50 meters) and who are aware of the seriousness of the problems (or who hoped to finally understand what the Earth is facing). Namely 24 portraits shows people drowning in plastic and sends a powerful message, which will make you think.

After four months of resting at the bottom of the ocean, the artworks are covered with salt, algae and others microorganisms. Franke left the patina intact because he wants to show visitors to the upcoming exhibition the beauty of the ocean and the creatures that live in it. The exhibition was available for viewing from May 25 to August 25 in Florida, and now the portraits are ready to be moved to a new location that is not yet known. Otherwise, Franke already found out in 2011 three underwater projects: The wrecks of the vandenberg, Stavronikita and Mohawk. Now he is thinking of using the trash he caught in the lens in the next exhibition, in which he wants to deepen awareness of the extent of trash in our oceans.
