Remember hygge and lykke? No, these are not characters from the series, but lifestyle trends from Scandinavia that have taken the world by storm in recent years. Denmark is famous as the country of the happiest people in the world, so it is not surprising that many have decided to look for the secret of a happy life there.

What is hygge?

A word hygge comes from Old Norse and means prosperity. It first appeared at the end of the 18th century. One of the good things about hygge is that you can apply this well-being anywhere, at every step and in everything you do. Hygge means to create warm atmosphere and enjoy good things in life, to enjoy everything worth living for. Hygge isn't just about the warm glow of candles, it's about lying down with a loved one, enjoying time with friends and family, and discussing the little things in life that fill the heart.

What is lykke

Lykke is a word for joy and happiness. In a world full of negativity and disaster, how do we know where to find joy and happiness? Even the smallest and simplest things bring joy to life. Happiness is not something that is easy to measure. Some people think that happiness is money, others think that it is freedom. Lykke it's work-life balance, it's movement, health, activity, volunteering, random acts, connecting with family and friends, trust and faith.

A new plogging trend is coming

Another very interesting trend is coming from the north of Europe - plogging. These are activities in nature such as running, walking, which include also garbage collection, as they harm the environment and our planet. When performing these sustainability initiatives the benefits are twofold. In addition to taking care of the environment, you are also helping the health of your body. The word "plogging” comes from a combination of the Swedish word plocka upp and English words jogging. The pioneer of this activity was Erik Ahlström, who, after moving to Stockholm, started cleaning garbage at locations where he practiced sports.
