The first recipe for cheesecake was written down around 230 by the Greek rhetorician and poet Athenaeus. The recipe was later taken over and modified by the Romans, and today there are a million ways you can prepare this delicious treat.
The Greeks made it by mixing the cheese well, straining it, then mixing it with honey and flour and baking it. It is also believed to have been used in the first ancient Olympic Games in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece.
Cheesecake can be raw or baked, like this Spanish one with only 4 ingredients.
