Recipe: taste Spain with a delicious paella

Paella is a traditional Spanish dish that has won the hearts of culinary enthusiasts around the world. This delicious dish will make you feel like you're walking the streets of Barcelona, admiring the beautiful coastline Valencia or enjoying a sunny afternoon on the Costa del Sol.

With this simple and tasty recipe, you will be able to prepare a real Spanish paella right at home, and enjoy every bite with satisfaction.

A traditional Spanish dish prepared in a shallow pan called a paellera. Paella combines various ingredients such as rice, meat, seafood and vegetables, and is being prepared over an open fire. The dish has a characteristic crispy golden crust on the bottom, called socarrat.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of rice for paella
  • 500 g chicken fillet (you can also use rabbit or a mixture)
  • 500 g of seafood (e.g. shrimp, squid, shrimp)
  • 1 red pepper
  • 1 yellow pepper
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 100 g peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 g of saffron
  • 1 tablespoon of red pepper powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1.5 l of chicken or vegetable broth
  • 6 tablespoons of olive oil

Directions

  1. Cut the meat into small cubes, clean and drain the seafood.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large pan, add the sliced onion and garlic and fry until soft and translucent.
  3. Add sliced peppers and tomatoes and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add meat and seafood and cook until tender.
  5. Stir in the rice and fry until slightly golden brown.
  6. Add saffron, red pepper powder, salt and pepper and mix.
  7. Add the stock and peas, reduce the heat and cook until the rice is cooked and all the liquid has evaporated (usually 20-30 minutes).
  8. When the paella is ready, cover it with a lid or aluminum foil and let it stand for a few minutes to let the flavors mix.
