Renault: this is how we will drive in the future

Renault

Renault and Central Saint Martins School of Design have joined forces to organize a competition for aspiring students. They were mainly interested in their vision of the future and how they would imagine the future of autonomous driving, the design of modular cars and the necessary changes to infrastructure and other supporting activities.

Contest winner Yuchen Cai she imagined a Renault called Float. Float is not only a means of transportation, but it plays the role of a new way of connecting and a new way of transportation in the future when everything becomes autonomous. It represents a way for people to be more open and sociable with other Renault Float users in the future. The car of the future has the appearance of a bubble and does not use standard wheels, but a magnetic field, as we know from superfast fog trains. The exterior is made of glass, and inside we find luxurious silver seats, which makes it look even more futuristic.

The idea is that the individual bubbles would connect into swarms, thereby increasing the interaction between the individuals in the bubbles. Each bubble can instantly change its direction of travel, as it would be limited only by the magnetic force field. The seats are rotatable and can be turned in any direction. Communication with other bubbles can be established via audio link, and if passengers want privacy, they can change the transparency of the glass and thus completely withdraw into the world of their bubble. Even in this case, an application is available, with which you can order a bubble right at home or borrow it for several days.
