Renault is looking around its rich treasury of automotive gems and wants to reincarnate some of the models that have proven to be cult in the past. Renault 5, albeit as a study, but one that we buy right away and will also become "meat" in the following years.
Reincarnations of legends always turn out to be the right move. So Fiat with the model Fiat 500 has been shaping the segment of urban "supermini" small city cars for many years, in which there really isn't much "smart" competition. Just as there is no competition that would cause emotions in the higher class either. And that's exactly where Renault wants to place the model Renault 5, which was dominant on Slovenian streets three decades ago. But this time with electric attributes of powertrains.
After we saw what they were preparing a week ago Alpine and Dacia, it's time to find out what the main brand is cooking Renault. At least seven fully electric vehicles will be launched by 2025, and one of them was presented a few days ago in the form of a redesigned Renault 5. Also known in the USA as "Le Car", i.e. "supermini", after the discontinuation of the model in 1996 - it is coming back!
Renault has clearly stated that displayed Renault 5 it is not just a concept, but a prototype of the production version. This means that the new car model will not be drastically different, perhaps only slightly adapted for mass production. The red light signature of the horizontal line is reminiscent of models Renault 5 GT Turbo and can be reserved for the most "evil version". It all suggests yes Renault right with the model Renault 5 wants to come up with an electric car that won't be boring. But just as exciting as his iconic historical models.
About the new Renault 5 (R5) not much is known, but Renault boss Luca de Meo says the electric car will be "at a price that many people can afford." We've also heard that they're also planning to bring back the Renault 4 – the iconic Katrca, but details on that are very limited at the moment.
The French automaker predicts it will introduce 14 vehicles by the middle of the decade, half of which will be in the C and D segments. In related news, the group Renault also plans to introduce the production version of the Megane eVision concept - next year with a new infotainment system with built-in Google services and some kind of electric drive.
