Samsung The Movingstyle: a portable touchscreen TV with smart features for the modern home

Samsung's The Movingstyle is a 27-inch portable TV with a battery, a touchscreen and smart features. The idea? A screen that moves with you – from the living room to the kitchen, from the bedroom to the balcony, from the home office to the couch, where suddenly "just one more episode" happens.

The TV used to be a piece of furniture. A large black panel in the living room, almost a family altar, in front of which evenings took place, fights over the remote control and occasionally silence. Today, however, the home behaves quite differently. The living room can be an office, the kitchen a studio for video recipes, the bedroom a cinema, and the balcony an improvised summer lounge – with a blanket, of course, because romance also has a temperature.

This shift is taking place Samsung The Moving Style, a portable TV that attempts to answer a very modern question: why should we walk to the screen if the screen can come to us?

A TV that is closer to a tablet than a classic TV

The Movingstyle is not your typical TV that you put on the wall and then spend the next seven years wondering if it's too high. It's 27-inch or 67.5 cm QHD display, which combines the functions of a smart TV, tablet and mobile display on a stand.

It has 120 Hz refresh rate, which will be interesting for everyone who watches not only movies and series, but also sports, faster content or the occasional game. It has been added touch screen, which is still unusual enough for a TV to seem almost logical. If we're tapping away at our phones, tablets, refrigerators, and car screens all day, why should the TV be the last analog aristocrat in the house?

Control is via touch, swipe and scroll, similar to a smartphone. This means the device is not just for passive viewing, but also for browsing the web, following workout content, working or quickly switching between apps.

Biggest advantage: not confined to one room

The key idea of The Movingstyle is mobility. He has a TV built-in battery, which allows up to three hours of wireless use, and hidden wheels, which allows you to move it around your apartment. The screen is also detachable and it has an integrated stand, which means you can use it more freely than a classic TV.

This is a device for homes where life no longer happens in one room. In the morning, the screen can be in the kitchen for coffee and the news, during the day in the home office as an additional display or assistant for video calls, and in the evening in the bedroom for that series you swore you wouldn't start watching during the week. We know how that ends.

Smart features and Samsung ecosystem

The Movingstyle is part of Samsung's connected ecosystem. It provides access to streaming services, features Samsung Daily+ and connectivity SmartThings, which means it can connect to other smart devices at home.

Samsung also highlights AI features that are said to automatically optimize the picture and sound based on the environment and content. In practice, this means that the TV tries to understand whether you're watching a movie, a workout, a sport, or something you opened simply because the algorithm said, "You'll watch this at 11:47 p.m."

Connectivity with Galaxy devices further targets users who already live in Samsung's digital world, for whom The Movingstyle is less of a standalone device and more of another screen in a broader ecosystem.

Design: minimalist enough not to scream “gadget”

When it comes to portable home devices, design is almost as important as specs. No one wants a tech cart that looks like a conference room fixture from 2008. That's why Samsung is positioning The Movingstyle as a minimalist piece of technology that's designed to blend in with a variety of interiors.

This is important. Your portable TV will be where you live – not hidden in a closet, not behind a closed door, but in the middle of the room. If it’s going to be moved from room to room, it needs to look good enough that you don’t want to push it behind a ficus tree.

Who is Samsung The Movingstyle for?

The Movingstyle will make the most sense for people who live a dynamic life at home. For those who don't need a large TV in every room, but still want a screen where they are. For smaller apartments, open floor plans, home offices, bedrooms, kitchens and balconies, where a classic TV often has no place.

But it's not necessarily a device for everyone. If you're using your TV exclusively for movie nights on the big couch, you'll probably still want a bigger screen. And if you expect to use it all day without a cable, there's a battery limit to consider: up to three hours it's enough for a movie, a workout, or a few episodes, but not for a full season marathon unless there's an outlet nearby.

Conclusion: less TV, more screen for the modern home

Samsung The Movingstyle is not just a TV on wheels, although that is of course the most fun part of the story. It is an attempt to adapt the TV to the way we use screens today: more relaxed, more mobile and less tied to a single room.

Its greatest value is not in replacing a large living room TV, but in filling the space between a tablet, a monitor, and a smart TV. It is a screen for people living in apartments, where the functions of the rooms overlap, schedules change, and content accompanies us from our morning coffee to our evening “just five more minutes.”

Price will be a pretty important filter in this story: Samsung The Movingstyle costs €1,369.00. This means that it's not an impulsive purchase to put on the kitchen counter, but a thoughtful piece of technology for those for whom screen mobility really means something.
