Spring is the time when nature awakens. That is why it is perfect for spending time in the fresh air and admiring the flowering plants. In the spring, some parts of Slovenia are transformed into fairy-tale blooming areas that are worth visiting.
Golica
Among the most famous is Golica, which is considered a popular excursion point. Especially in spring, when beautiful white daffodils grow in its meadows, which attract visitors from near and far. Daffodils usually bloom in May, if it's warm, as early as the end of April. A beautiful scenery that should not be missed. This alone will require a lot of effort, as the estimated walking time is approximately two hours, depending on the starting point.
Velika Planina
The beautiful plateau turns into a magical land in the springtime, as its meadows are sprinkled with striking purple saffron. Velika Planina offers a series of hiking trails, which are usually less demanding and therefore suitable even for the youngest family members. During your visit, you will get to know the shepherd tradition better and have refreshments in one of the huts, while enjoying the view of the purple meadows.
Vipava valley
It is not unusual that the beauty of the Vipava Valley was also noticed by the Lonely Planet publishing house, which ranked it among the top ten European destinations that are worth visiting in your lifetime. The valley is worth visiting in all seasons, but it is especially magical in spring, when the cherries are in bloom. Small flowers in soft pink shades sprinkle the hills, above which picturesque stone villages flourish.
Goriška Brda
Even the Goriška brda hills, which are famous for their sweet cherries in June, are a feast for the eyes in spring. Cherry, peach and apricot orchards turn into a pink sea of flowers that attract insects and a pleasant hum. Let the warm rays of the sun caress you and let your taste buds enjoy one of the Briš wines, while you relax looking at the blossoming fruit orchards.
