The new Sony Alpha 1 camera, or we will affectionately call it the Sony A1, was presented a few days ago at Sony's "The one never seen" event. It basically delivers 50 MP and is the most powerful mirrorless camera with a set of features.
The presentation was a surprise, as we did not know exactly what to expect. That's right Sony A1 really surprised as there were no rumors or information as usual. In a way, the specs are even so impressive that this one camera without hesitation can be compared with super sports cars and their capabilities.
Sony Alpha 1 combines for the first time a full-frequency sensor with 50MP and with sequential photography with 30 frames per second – a trick that will open up a whole new dimension for sports photographers. But the competition that can be found in the model Canon EOS R5, it also promises some comparable performance. The latter also allow the device to become an extremely powerful video tool with the ability to capture video in 8K.
The proverbially excellent autofocus is impressive. So has A1 759 AF focal points, which cover 93 percent of the sensor, but more importantly, it enables real-time AF for birds. Sony's autofocus has been class leading for some time. Nevertheless, we have already seen something similar on Canon EOS R5, whose AF also works with animal eyes, so it will be interesting to see how it does Sony Alpha 1 cut off in reality. Of course, you also get real-time AF for the eyes of humans and other animals (mainly dogs and cats). Sony says the Alpha can do 1 per second 120 calculations auto-focus and auto-exposure, which is apparently twice as much as possible with Sony A9 II. At the top Sony Alpha 1 is a comparable viewfinder, similar to that of the model Sony A7S III, which is very good news. This has a resolution of 9.44MP with 0.90x zoom, while the refresh rate is now 240 FPS, which is especially important when shooting sports activities.

It also offers the same image stabilization system in the camera body – ti IBIS, as we have seen on previous cameras Alpha, such as for example Sony A9 II. It usually promises 5.5 degrees of compensation or stabilization, which is extremely important especially in video production, for which this camera seems to be born.
Sony A1 in addition to its main feature, which is 8K resolution, it brings a lot of video goodies. 8K/30p namely, it can record using the full width of the sensor, without digital tricks such as "bicling binning". It promises that it will be able to record for a longer time than the competition - that is, up to a full 30 minutes. All thanks to an efficient heat dissipation system. Among the features, we can highlight the possibility of capture 10-bit video in resolution 4K at 120p. This means that the shift can be a really great "slow motion".
As you might expect, the price in Europe will be high and is expected to be around 7,300 euros. It's just not a tool for hobby photographer, but for professionals who get an excellent tool for a "normal" amount.
