You're probably not the only one who has a hard time resisting sugar, even though you know it's not healthy. You don't have to give up your sweet cravings, but you can find a healthier way to sweeten yourself. White sugar, which is anchored in Slovenian cuisine, is not the best choice, as it does not contain vitamins and minerals. Not all sugars are created equal. Some are even healthy in moderation.
What can you use instead of white sugar?
Brown sugar
White sugar is the easiest to replace with brown, but pay attention to its production. Brown sugar is made by adding dyes.
Med
It has many medicinal effects, as it contains vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Enjoy it in moderation as it is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream and has a high glycemic index.
Liquid sweeteners:
Agave syrup
Colorless syrup with a mild taste does not acidify the body. Its glycemic index is a third lower than that of white sugar and it contains a third less carbohydrates. You can use it anywhere you've used sugar.
Stevia
A natural sweetener that does not contain carbohydrates and has no energy value and has a glycemic index of zero. Its extracts are up to 200 times sweeter than sugar. Stevia is suitable for preparing fruit salads, cheese dishes and sweetening coffee, tea, compote. Regulates blood sugar.

Molasses
Thick dark syrup is a by-product of extracting sugar from sugar cane. A positive feature of molasses is that it does not acidify the body. It contains many nutrients (magnesium, iron, copper and manganese and B vitamins). One tablespoon of molasses contains three times more iron than an egg and more calcium than a glass of milk.
Maple syrup
It is rich in minerals and contains vitamins and minerals that cleanse the body. It can be used to sweeten coffee, tea, whole grain cereals, yogurt, pancakes and fruit salads. It is also a rich source of magnesium and selenium.
