Fashion is in constant motion, changing minute by minute and constantly offering new things. Current fashion trends quickly become outdated, and the fashion industry pushes us into constant consumption of clothes. As an alternative to this, shirting was created...; a sustainable fashion project that prioritizes slow and socially responsible fashion and weaves a web of relationships through which the shirts travel from wearer to wearer.
shirting ... is a process that creates an opportunity to form a different kind of community. A community that thinks critically about already accepted fashion norms and reevaluates them, thereby building relationships beyond the logic of consumerism.
shirting... started in January 2014 with the presentation of the first shirt - shirting 01 - at the Reforma exhibition, and continued with shirting 02, which includes a further eight shirts. All shirts are already in circulation and traveling from user to user. The third edition of the project – shirting 03, which is part of the program BIO 50 : NOW – goes one step further. Renowned Slovenian fashion designers were invited to participate. Each of them has designed one unique shirt, which will be worn by the first wearer at the opening event. He will then pass the shirt on to the next user, and then to the next, and then to the next... thus creating a chain of shirting.
They will be launched at the shirting 03 exhibition nine new shirts, which shaped them nine domestic fashion designers. Everyone put their own thinking and vision into the shirt. More will be revealed to you at the very opening of the event.
