The Švicarija Creative Center is a new cultural, educational and creative center located in the exceptional surroundings of Ljubljana's Tivoli City Park and is part of the International Graphic Arts Center. It offers working and living studios for local artists and residencies for international artists, and it also hosts a lively cultural program.
In 1835, a wooden guest house named Švicarija was built here, which was replaced at the beginning of the twentieth century by the Tivoli Hotel, which soon became famous as a gathering place for literati, artists and bohemians. After the decline of the hotel, the building was inhabited by Russian immigrants, and after the Second World War, also by socially endangered residents and many renowned local artists who set up their work spaces here.
The Switzerland project: community, art and nature through the prism of cultural history, architecture and visual art, it takes us into the past of the building, reveals the recent renovation and presents the work of the artists in it. The exhibition is complemented by a variety of educational activities for children, young people, adults and families with an inclusive, innovative and engaged approach to visitors. Through lectures, guides, talks and other events, they actualize Switzerland's heritage and thus become part of its new life.
