Let's start in reverse order. First, for breakfast, we treat ourselves to homemade marmalade on fresh crusty bread and for a moment catch the bliss of the sinful flavors that mix in our mouths. Then just on the way, along the Styrian highway, straight to Maribor, where many surprises await us.
During the Lent festival, for 16 days and 16 nights, Maribor turns into a happy, lively, colorful, sociable and relaxed city, which pulses in the spirit of music, dance, street theater, comedy and creative experiences.
Also this year, for obvious reasons, we will witness a slightly different version of the now cult Styrian rock "chaga" Piše se leto. Also this year, renowned names or talented new local and regional names - Hladno Pivo, Straight Mickey And The Boyz and Alice Blue - have been selected and invited. This year, the festival will be on the schedule of the Lent Festival on Saturday, July 4 at the Večerovo odra venue.
As part of the Lent Festival, SladoLent, the largest Slovenian street food promenade, is returning to the Drava coast for the fifth time, where we will be able to taste the culinary creations of 27 top Slovenian chefs between July 3rd and 11th.
This year's 24th festival will enrich Maribor with a wealth of cultural and other events between June 24 and July 2, when Maribor will once again come to life in its most vibrant image.
SladoLent was a peripheral event of the Lent Festival six years ago, but today it is hard to imagine Lent without it. SladoLent 2016 is therefore a logical continuation of the culinary story written by top chefs and a crowd of people who rush to this culinary festival in Maribor like the Drava river rushes after a storm. Between June 24 and July 2, 2016, it will host as many as 27 chefs who will once again turn Maribor into the culinary capital of Slovenia.
The Lent Festival 2017 will undoubtedly be something special. It is celebrating a landmark anniversary - 25 years of growth, existence, joy, 'lounging' and festival adventures. One of the biggest summer festivals in our country will once again host the most famous names, and the events will be diverse and colorful. The undisputed star of the festival will be Bob Geldof, a musician best known for his activism and the song I Don't Like Mondays.
If during the day you will hide in the pleasant shade and cool off with chilled refreshments, then in the evening go to the city and live it up. A bunch of great events are waiting for you, which will put the finishing touch on this summer.
When does SladoLent 2019 take place? The Drava Promenade of the Lent Festival will host SladoLent for the ninth time. The promenade of top Slovenian cuisine has been held since 2011, and during the Lent Festival, it takes place every evening in three open kitchens along the Drava.
