Every year, the Geneva International Motor Show presents technologically advanced cars and concepts from global manufacturers. This year we had the honor of attending the most important automotive event of the season. We were among the first to see the premieres of new models from well-known brands and feast our eyes on numerous remakes and luxury models.
Maserati
At Bowers & Wilkins, in cooperation with the supplier of luxury sports cars Maserati, they designed the prestigious P5Maserati wireless HI-FI headphones.
If you would like to have a piece of automotive history at home, then we have an example for you that might interest you. The very first Maserati 200 SI (Sport Internazionale) with a 200 S chassis from 1956, which has a truly varied and laurel-strewn career, was put up for auction. The athlete, who has already flown around the world "professionally and privately", is still in excellent condition, so far he has only needed minor restorations here and there.
Milan-based design house Zagato has unveiled its latest one-of-a-kind creation, the Zagato Maserati Mostro, which has a reason why it's called a monster. This individual and limited-quantity restoration of Maserati is dedicated to the centenary of this "trident" of the aristocratic car brand and the original monster, Frank Costino's 1957 Maserati 450S Coupe, nicknamed Mostro.
We're used to Maserati cars being lower in stature, and with their first SUV, the Maserati Levante, that's changing. The Italian brand of prestigious cars will present its first ever SUV at the Geneva Motor Show! It will join other prestigious SUVs such as the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé and Lexus RX.
Maserati has announced that an electric version of the Maserati Alfieri will hit the roads in 2020. It may seem late, given that it will be most of the competition has already jumped on the electric train, but still, better late than never. An octane derivative is already coming in 2019. Sports Alfieri announced the concept in Geneva in 2014, but now the series production date is known and rumors of an electric version have been confirmed.
Having a Ghibli is nothing new. Named after the south wind of the North African dunes, Maserati first took its name back in 1966 and has since experienced two reincarnations. Now their smallest sedan has received a special Nerissimo (Italian superlative for black) version that will only be available to select people.
You could say Maserati hasn't made a proper supercar since 2005, when they stopped producing the ultra-fast MC12. From afar, the Alfieri concept made us a bit more expensive, but unfortunately we didn't get to see more than the renovation of the GranTurismo, which has been in production for almost 10 years. So what should Maserati do to win back its loyal fans? Maybe this time's concept will encourage them to create something unique.
The new GranTurismo of course. Although it was promised for next year, this year we only got a refresh of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models. This time, they promise us something completely new for 2020.
The more affordable Maserati Ghibli is a direct competitor to the holy trinity: BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It has a changed name, a slightly different look and some new technology added. From now on, you can hear the name Maserati Ghibli GranLusso.
Levante is the name of the wind that blows across the Mediterranean Sea and is known for its capriciousness, when it changes from a light breeze to a violent storm in an instant. The latest Maserati Levante Trofeo makes its presence felt in the same way that it can transform from a sleek SUV to a thunderous SUV.
Maserati has presented an electrified car model for the first time in its 105-year history. This is the Maserati Ghibli Hybrid!
