Tesla Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive – a novelty that promises more for less. Do we really get everything we expect from the Tesla brand when we choose the "cheaper" version? Or is this the most optimal choice?!
Let's start with the promised reach. Tesla states that the new Tesla Model Y LR RWD it can transport impressive on a single charge 600 km according to WLTP standard. However, a look at the technical details quickly reveals that such a number requires some compromises. Above all, the question arises about the reality of such a range in everyday driving conditions, where highway speeds and air conditioners quickly eat up kilowatt hours. However, the fact is that with a battery capacity of 75 kWh you will definitely be able to travel at least 450 kilometers and certainly at least 400 by highway. Which is enough for longer half-day trips, because after 400 kilometers you really need an emergency stop.
With one engine and rear-wheel drive, it can boast of lower consumption - 14.9 kWh on 100 km. Let's compare this to a more wasteful one AWD version, which needs around 16.8 kWh for the same distance. Lower consumption is welcome, but is it enough to experience a real Tesla?
Accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h 5.9 seconds they are solid, but the feeling is missing that "wow” effect offered by more powerful Tesla models. Top speed 217 km/h otherwise it's sufficient, but again, it's nothing that a competitor with the z can't do lower price ranges.
And then there's the price. Yes, 49,970 euros it's an attractive number, especially compared to more expensive versions. However, when you subtract the more expensive AWD model, which is currently available at a discount, the difference narrows. And let's not forget the classic Tesla "delivery and documentation costs" that quickly add to the final price.
Tesla Model Y LR RWD it brings some interesting ideas and affordability that can attract a wider range of buyers. However, despite the lower price, we can't shake the feeling that it's a somewhat diminished experience.
