In recent years, tablets have not found a proper place under the "technological" sun. They remained anchored somewhere between smartphones and notebook computers, but recently many things have been changing, and it is quite possible that tablets will somehow replace notebook computers in the near future. I've been using the Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite for the past month and found that it still comes in handy.
At Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite it is a product of the middle price range of the mentioned manufacturer. So a tablet that is not among the most expensive and not among the cheapest. That's also why I didn't have any special expectations for the tablet itself. Product for 329 euros I considered it a technological product that will be used in our household as a tool for finding information, online shopping and entertaining children with various interesting and educational games. But it proved useful in several situations and thus exceeded my basic expectations.
First, to the basics of the test plate. It's in the tablet case 10.1-inch screen with Full HD IPS technology, which displays true colors and details very solidly. The housing is equipped with as many as four speakers, which are made with the help of engineers Harman Kardon and they provide satisfyingly powerful sound and a clear enough sound experience to make watching movies a fun task. The processor inside is octa-core Hysilicon Kirin 659, which means that the power is enough, or these cores really help most applications run smoothly. Unfortunately, it is only inside 3 GB RAM and for only 32 GB internal memory.
The latter is absolutely insufficient, but it can be upgraded with SD card. Which in principle is an extremely simple task, but you need to be careful what you will have on the external card so as not to slow down the device itself. On the latter, it is best to store only files such as various movies and music libraries. He still has the tablet GPS and can be used as navigation if you connect it to your phone or preload "maps".
The user experience is not bad. The rather wide "black" edge of the device, which suggests that the screen could be an inch or so larger, may be disturbing. I was also not the most convinced by the construction of the outer frame itself, which is too sensitive to use and shows a scratch very quickly. This is also why I almost immediately jumped to a Chinese online retailer to get a protective case for the device. But I believe that you yourself will immediately protect the device from falls and possible destruction. 32 GB internal space is extremely few. So little that even after loading a few applications that I use daily on my phone, the display of space on the tablet only shows 9 GB of space. That's why it will Huawei M5 Lite what soon required the expansion of the internal memory s SD card. What bothers me about tablets in general is the amount of internal memory, which should be much larger due to the way the tablets are used (games, video). But this is exactly where all tablet manufacturers sin. For example, if the tablets were basically coal 256+ GB would be much closer to laptops in the eyes of users. And jumping to this kind of device as an alternative choice of a "home" laptop is much easier.
But it is a tablet Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite surprised especially when playing some games, where there was no feeling that the games were running badly. As games as they are Real Racing 3 and Asphalt 9 – both pretty much GPU demanding games, run well on this tablet with no particular signs of the matter getting worse over time. The tablet also didn't overheat, which is always a good sign. Of course, the gaming experience is not at the highest level - the so-called "frame rate" is still occasionally noticeable, but it is still quite close to the most expensive Android devices. The average user won't notice much of a difference. The fact that it has is especially cute Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite good speakers and the sound of effects when playing games is exceptional. The tablet often quite honestly shakes in the player's hands. Which is cool.
Of course, the primary task on the tablet is – at least in my personal case – exploring the web, editorial work and following favorite YouTube channels. In these scenarios, the device proved to be indispensable and a great upgrade compared to a smartphone, as the experience is incomparably better. It's already the case that I'm slowly getting to the age where I like to see that my eyes are protected, that I don't strain my gaze too much and that I simply do things better.
I was particularly impressed by the ability to create a unique account for a child that can be accessed with a fingerprint, and how you can limit which apps your child will have access to in the latter. The tablet also offers a way to protect your eyes and reduce blue light, which is harmful to your and your baby's eyes. In addition, the Huawei M5 Lite can signal children to move a little further away from the screen if their eyes are at a distance closer to 25 cm. The tablet also automatically recognizes if the device is held at an unusual angle and suggests a change in posture. You can also set the tablet so that access does not exceed 60 minutes with a frequency of once, twice or three times a day. This is what we parents really need.
There are really many positive features of the tablet. For example, the large battery that is at Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite good ones 7500 mAh, or the fact that the tablet is really light, as it weighs only 475 g. So that you can experience a real movie marathon with it, where you can watch 6 full-length movies without charging the battery in between. All this is what convinces me again and again that the price: value ratio for this tablet is at an extremely high level.
Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite is a low-cost surprise. A tablet that convinces in the "price - performance" segment with many excellent features and thus represents one of the more optimal choices if you want to enter the world of tablets.
