The best hotels in the Maldives are the extra luxury ones that promise an unforgettable vacation over the turquoise clear sea.

The best hotels in the Maldives offer an unforgettable vacation above sea level, in beautiful houses, or in one of the hidden tree houses. Check our selection.

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?

The ideal time to visit the Maldives is between November and April. This period is dominated by a dry period, with minimal rainfall and pleasantly high temperatures ranging between 25°C and 30°C. At this time, the sea is also at its calmest, which provides ideal conditions for swimming, diving and other water sports.
Between May and October, the Maldives experiences monsoon season, which brings heavy rainfall and stronger winds. Although prices are lower during this time, the fickle weather can disrupt your beach and sea exploration plans.
For lovers of the underwater world, December, January and February are the best months for diving and snorkeling, as underwater visibility is at its best at this time. Abundant marine life, including colorful fish, sea turtles and coral reefs, is most accessible to view at this time.
If you are interested in local cultures and festivals, consider visiting during the Islamic holidays as it is Ramadan or Eid, when you can experience the unique local customs and Maldivian hospitality.

Six Senses Laamu

In a pristine part of the Maldives, where seaplanes don't fly through the air, and speedboats don't whiz across the water. This is where you'll find Six Senses Laamu, which can only be accessed on a combined seaplane and speedboat ride. But the journey is definitely worth the effort. This eco-luxury retreat on the coast of the Indian Ocean brings travelers closer to nature, also with its interior. It is distinguished by the rustic look of wood combined with sea debris.

Lux* North Male Atoll

Just under an hour's speedboat ride from the capital city of Male, this modern haven offers everything you need for a luxurious seaside break. The villas, inspired by the silhouette of nautical vessels, have curved white walls, round skylights and even roof decks for an evening under the stars. You wake up with yoga at sunrise, and celebrate sunsets on the beach with a cocktail in hand.

St Regis Maldives Vommuli

As the seaplane slowly descends, travelers are first impressed by the extraordinary architecture of the hotel when looking at the complex. The bar is designed in the silhouette of a shark, the spa in the shape of a lobster, while the villas look like Maldivian dhoni boats. Six restaurants and bars treat guests to first-class food and cocktails served in clamshells. In the Decanter wine cellar, you can choose from more than 2,000 first-class bottles of wine from more than 23 countries. And all while your feet are buried in the softness of the white sand and your eyes rest on the sunset.

Four Seasons Maldives Landaa Giraavaru

The island of Landaa Giraavaru is large enough for guests to explore by bicycle. The large villas, as many as 103 of them, boast private pools and a view of romantic beaches overgrown with lush tropical greenery. The resort offers guests a range of activities, from rescuing local turtles in the rehabilitation center to admiring manta rays in Hanifaru Bay.

Soneva Jani

A refuge for celebrities, which Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk also chose for their honeymoon. Soneva Jani is located at the southern end of the island and has recently acquired as many as 27 new villas (out of a total of 51). Romantic phenomena above the water, with huge private pools, wide terraces, glass floors, water slides and retractable roofs. These allow you to admire the starry sky from your own bed.

Joali

The architecture and interiors of Joali Resort look like something out of a Wes Anderson movie – from the colorful gardens, to the thatched roofs and secret treehouses. Villas with private pools are decked out in deep pinks and blues, with peacock-shaped chairs and hand-carved wooden walls.
