It is the largest museum in North America and is managed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Academy Awards. About 390 million US dollars were earmarked for it, and money was also contributed by many film actors. The museum building was designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano. It presents a historical overview of more than a century of film production from around the world.

It is a seven-story museum that covers as much as 300,000 square meters. The parts of the collection that you will be able to view include various scenarios, props and costumes, as there are as many as 8,000 of them. The museum presents an overview of the films that adorn history of film art.

Among the museum exhibits, you will see various costumes from Bram Stoker's Dracula, the Orc from The Lord of the Rings, the robot C-3PO and R2-D2 from Star Wars, the wooden sled from the film Citizen Kane, which was repeatedly declared the best film of all time.

The museum has just two buildings, which are connected by glass bridges. The dome is decorated with 350,000 gold mosaic leaves. The buildings also include restaurants, cafes, many exhibition galleries, educational studios, a theater and a 1,000-seat cinema. The museum is real a treasure trove of cinematic art and its history, so a visit to Los Angeles is a must.
