What does the legend of the sunken bell tell?
So-called wish bell he poured in 1534 Franciscus Patavinus in Italian Falls. At that time, a young, inconsolable widow lived in Bled Castle. Her husband was killed by bandits and his body was thrown into the lake. She collected all her silver and gold and had a bell cast for the chapel on the island. But he didn't get there. A fierce storm sank him with the boat and the boatmen. Even today, the bell is sometimes sounded from the depths on clear nights. After this accident, the desperate widow sold all her possessions, donated the proceeds to a new church on the island, and herself entered a monastery in Rome. There she lived devoutly until her death. After her death, the Pope consecrated a new bell and sent it to Bled island. To him who rings this bell and communicates his wish, merciful 'ladies of the lake', the wish comes true.
