Some of us dream of tropical vacations, warm weather and sunny beaches. Well, this is definitely not photographer Karen Jacot's dream destination. What caught her attention was the most distant continent on the planet, Antarctica. When she finally reached the frozen shores, she battled extremely cold temperatures and began to learn about historical sites, play with penguins and marvel at the incredible beauty. And her photos will convince you too - now Antarctica will be on your list of dream destinations too.
Photographer Karen Jacot can't remember when or exactly why her obsession with Antarctica. It was one of those things that most of us think about when we think of a favorite destination: "I'll visit it one day!"
Her journey began in Ushuaia in Argentina, where she boarded the ship with her husband and uncle. This was no luxury cruiser, but a comfortable icebreaker. That they arrived at arctic circle, took two days, while Karen learned about Antarctica. When they finally crossed it, he followed baptism with stuffed crabs, artificial penguin poop, ice cold water and vodka.
