Oscars 2014: This year's nominations for the Oscars came as a surprise

After the recent awarding of the Golden Globes, today we found out which films are among the nominees for the even more prestigious Oscars, which will be awarded on March 2 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The award will be hosted by the charming comedian Ellen DeGeneres.

In terms of nominations, it is certainly clear to us that the Wolf of Wall Street, which also starred "our" Katarina Čas, is the best film in the category, but we never expected that the leading films - with as many as 10 nominations - would be Gravity and American Fraud. We were also surprised that Tom Hanks, who has two excellent roles behind him this year, was not nominated even once. For impressive performances in Saving Mr. Banks and Captain Phillips, he will obviously have to take solace in the two statuettes he already has at home.

We were also shocked by the fact that his co-star Emma Thompson was not among the nominees, and that they once again "overlooked" Oprah Winfrey, who played one of the excellent supporting roles in the movie The Butler. Somehow we thought it was possible that she would be nominated for an Oscar, since she was already "left out" at the Golden Globes. Robert Redford and the Coen brothers are also not among the expected nominees. The nomination for best song received by the film "Alone Yet Not Alone" is also surprising, as it is, at least until now, a completely unknown film. Maybe it will surprise you! Well, let's see who are the nominees for this year's golden statuettes.

David O. Russell (American Deception), Alphonso Curaon (Gravity), will compete for the Oscar for Best Director. Alexander Payne (Nebraska), Steve McQueen (12 years a slave) and Martin Scorsese (The Wolf of Wall Street).

The nominees for Best Actress are Amy Adams (American Scams), Cate Blanchett (Boring Jasmine), Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Judi Dench (Philomena) and Meryl Streep (August: Osage County).

The nominated actors for the male lead roles are Christian Bale (American Scams), Bruce Dern (Nebraska), Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 years a slave) and Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club).

They are nominated for best supporting role Sally Hawkins (Boring Jasmine), Jennifer Lawrence (American Scams), Lupita Nyong'o (12 years a slave), Julia Roberts (August: Osage County) and June Squibb (Nebraska).

Among the actors, they are nominated for the Oscar for the best male supporting role Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Bradley Cooper (American Scams), Michael Fassbender (12 years a slave), Jonah Hill (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club).
