The Toyota GR Corolla is definitely a purchase that is also of interest to collectors, as there will not be many such car models in the future. This is also why we are happy to experience the presentation of the written off - those who are still driven by dinosaurs every now and then.
The Toyota GR Corolla has been predicted for a long time, ever since the introduction of the GR Yaris, which immediately achieved cult status.
This time, under the hood is the “identical” 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbocharged G16E-GTS engine with 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts) at 6,500 rpm and 370 newton meters (370 newton meters) of torque from 3,000 to 5,500 rpm. Power is transmitted through a six-speed manual gearbox with rev-matching function. The GR-Four all-wheel drive system has selectable torque split settings of 60-40, 50-50 and 30-70 front and rear depending on driver preference. Everything exactly as we saw it with the Yaris GR.
Toyota's presentation doesn't offer any performance estimates, so we don't know how quickly the GR Corolla reaches 100 km/h or what its top speed is. Basically, we have the data of the same Toyota GR Yaris drive, which reaches 100 km/h in less than 5.5 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 230 km/h. The GR Yaris weighs 1,280 kilograms, compared to the 1,474 kilograms that the new GR Corolla tips the scales at.
The interior of the GR Corolla is dominated by a 12.3-inch digital infotainment screen. The display includes views of the selected four-wheel drive mode, turbo pressure, gear position indicator and tachometer. The driver operates a short-throw shifter, which Toyota says has a position "where the driver's hand is naturally off the steering wheel." There is also an 8.0-inch infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard. Of course, the interior is highlighted with various sports elements, inscriptions and accents.
As with the GR Yaris, there will be several trim levels for the GR Corolla. We know the GR Corolla Core is available in White, Black and Supersonic Red. Inside, there are cloth-covered sport seats and a black and silver color scheme. A Cold Weather Package is available as an option, adding heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The technology package includes navigation, an upgraded stereo and wireless smartphone charging. The so-called “Circuit Edition” offers performance upgrades, including a forged carbon fiber roof. This trim is available in White, Supersonic Red and Heavy Metal. The brake calipers are red in color and have the GR logo.
Not much is known about the prices, but it is known that it will not be sold in Europe!
