Trip hop legend, one of the holy trinity of the Bristol trip hop movement Tricky, is coming to Kino Šiška. He will stop in Ljubljana as part of his European tour for the release of his new album Mixed Race, which was released in October by Domino Records. The label has proteges such as Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Animal Collective and many others. He says his new album is the closest he can get to a gangster album, and the most up-tempo album he's ever made. It is dark, tense, street and urban at the same time. Tricky took the world music scene by storm with his solo music debut, Maxinquaye, which he released fifteen years ago. He collaborated with big stars from various musical backgrounds. The most resounding is his collaboration with the group Massive Attack, for which he wrote and arranged many hits. Some hits, such as Overcome, Hell is 'Round the Corner, Karmacoma, can also be heard in different arrangements on his album Maxinquaye. Artists Neneh Cherry, Alanis Morissette and Björk contributed their vocals to some of his hits. He also tried his hand at acting. He starred in Luc Besson's cult film The Fifth Element, Face/Off and Clean. A versatile talent, but above all a musician, he returned to focus on his music. On his latest album Mixed Race he collaborated with musicians: Franky Riley, Terry Lynn, Bobby Gillespie, Hamadouche, Blackman and with his younger brother Marlon Thaws.
