Volkswagen Golf GTI BBS Concept: a pleasant sense of nostalgia

Since the first presentation of the Golf GTI, it has changed significantly. But it is still the Golf of the second generation (Mk 2) that has firmly anchored itself in the hearts of car enthusiasts. The wheel manufacturer BBS and Volkswagen share the same opinion, and together they have come up with a very special ʺretroʺ concept.

Volkswagen Golf GTI BBS Concept draws its inspiration from the second generation Golf GTI. It is placed in the foreground in the concept visual image, as the powertrain remains the same as in the current generation Golf GTI. It only drives this 2.0 liter petrol engine, with 245 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. The only upgrade, apart from the visual one, is a new exhaust system Borla, which is credited for the better sound of the car.

The visual changes are minor, but just big enough to evoke a retro feeling and memory of the now legendary second generation Golf GTI. They definitely make the biggest impression shiny gold 19-inch BBS Super RS wheels. A retro red and black painting highlights the hood, while a red and black stripe can be seen on the side of the car. In any case, it is clear that the image of the eighth generation cannot be confused with the iconic image of the second generation Golf GTI. But we can be happy that they at Volkswagen made an effort and tried to conjure us up a little nostalgia and historical automobile charm.
