A walk through the French Ljubljana, 1811

We will walk around the city with a plan of Ljubljana from 1811 by the students of the class for mathematics and drawing of the Ljubljana University. We will walk around the city with a plan of Ljubljana from 1811 by the students of the class for mathematics and drawing of the Ljubljana University. The map was drawn by Jean (Janez) Scherrer, also the later author of the painting Illyria revived.
We will start our walk at the National Museum of Slovenia - Metelkova, where we will briefly see the exhibition Under Napoleon's Eagle. 200 years of the establishment of the Illyrian provinces. This will be followed by a tour of "French" Ljubljana with an emphasis on its cultural and social life. We will head along Trubarjeva, across Prešernov trg, past the Franciscan Church and the Hospital Bridge, and continue along the left bank of the Ljubljanica river past the theater, infantry barracks, Codelli and Zois Palaces, across the Šentjakob Bridge to Grubarje Palace. We will return along the right bank of the river via Šentjakobski square, past the building for events destroyed in the 1895 earthquake, the redoubt, the then office of the Telegfaphe Officiel near Tranča, across the Town Square with the magistrate, past the bishop's palace and ending the tour at Vodnik Square.

The walk is suitable for families. Children from the age of 8 can also participate independently. Duration: 120 minutes. The price is €3.50.
In case of bad weather, the program will take place in the museum premises.

Exhibition Under Napoleon's Eagle. You can visit the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Illyrian provinces in the National Museum of Slovenia - Metelkova only until the end of February 2010. From March 22, 2010, the exhibition will be on display in the War Museum in Paris.
