When do the most popular series return with new seasons?

La Casa de Papel, Bridgerton, Lupin, Dead to Me

When will the new seasons of the best series like You, Sex Education, Stranger Things, Succesion, Euphoria, etc. air?

The pandemic brought different industries to a standstill and changed them forever. Among other things, also film and television, as a result of which many premieres, which we have been looking forward to in recent months, are delayed. So when will new seasons of favorite hits, both from Netflix and from other streaming services, be released, or when can we expect them?

Lupine (2021– )

Lupine is a phenomenal French series from the beginning of this year that delighted the audience with Omar Sy in the lead role. The trailer for the second part of the series has already been released, which confirmed the suspicions that the series was filmed to the end, but was cut in half to two seasons. Streaming giant Netflix has confirmed that part two is coming this summer!

La Casa de Papel (Money Heist, 2017– )

The most watched foreign language series on Netflix released its fourth season last year, right during the quarantine, which for many is the best and craziest so far. It took quite some time for the production to confirm the fifth season (August 2020), when they added that "the heist has ended", which of course means that this is the last season of the series. Filming of the fifth season is expected to end in February this year. Although it was rumored that the new episodes would be available as early as April this year, this did not materialize. There is no exact date yet, but Netflix has confirmed that the series should be released by the end of 2021. Some are even of the opinion that it may happen that the fifth season will be cut in half, and the first half will be on small screens in August.

Bridgerton (2020– )

Bridgerton fans were certainly delighted by the news that the second season of this extremely popular series is coming, when the focus of the story will shift to Lord Anthony Bridgerton. However, filming didn't start until this spring, which means there's little chance we'll be watching the intrigues of London's high society before the very end of 2021. Maybe we'll get new parts of the series again around Christmas!

You (2018– )

The third part of the story about sociopath Joe Goldberg and his obsessions is on its way to viewers! Although Netflix has not yet confirmed the exact date, they said that we will be able to watch the new parts of the series later this year. Filming began in November last year, and in addition to the existing ones, we got some new characters that will surely make Joe's life even more complicated. After a shocking twist, almost anything is possible in the third season of the series!

Sex Education (2019– )

One of the favorite teenage series, which deals with serious topics in an exciting way, will get a third season. It is one of Netflix's most successful series, following teenagers and the various hardships they face - in a funny and touching way at the same time. The third season was confirmed in February 2020, but due to the pandemic, filming was not completed until this March. So the new season can be expected once this year. Some foreign media claim that we could get it as early as July or August, but there is still no official confirmation or trailer.

Dead to Me (2019– )

Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate are a tandem that completely surprised us in the Dead to Me series in 2019. The story of two women bound by a bizarre fate and horrific actions continued in the second season last spring. Last summer, series creator Liz Feldman confirmed that a third season of the series is on the way! Filming lasts from January to mid-April, so foreign media are speculating that the series could come to Netflix as early as this fall.

Stranger Things (2016– )

Although we don't yet have an exact release date for the fourth season, we can say with certainty that the filming of the series Stranger Things is underway again. With a post on the official Instagram profile of the production, which we were able to catch last October, we received confirmation that the team is back in action. If further filming goes smoothly, we can expect to return to the bizarre world of Hawkins in the second half of this year.

Stewardess (The Flight Attendant, 2020– )

Kaley Cuoco successfully left Big Popcorn behind in the genius hit Stewardess, as she received many awards for the role of a flight attendant who wakes up one morning next to a dead man. HBO has confirmed that the story will continue in the second season. Filming has not started yet, so the series is likely to be released only in the first half of 2022.

Euphoria (Euphoria, 2019– )

Euphoria is one of those series where we have simply been waiting too long for the second season. In the summer of 2019, when the first season, signed by Sam Levinson, was released and won hundreds of accolades for its portrayal of Generation Z and its problems, a second season was immediately confirmed. Filming began just a few days before the world had to stop due to the spread of the epidemic. Fortunately, between the two seasons, Levinson, Zendaya and Hunter Schafer agreed to film two special episodes, Rue and Jules, where we were able to get a glimpse of both protagonists. Filming for the second season starts again on April 5, so we won't be able to see the series until early 2022.

Succession (2018– )

If you haven't watched the Inheritance series, this is definitely one of our recommendations for your first night off. The dramatic unfolding of events and relationships in the Roy family, which manages one of the world's largest media conglomerates, completely captivated critics and viewers. After two seasons, HBO has confirmed a third, but unfortunately The Legacy is another series where filming has been temporarily halted due to the pandemic. The cast returned to filming in January this year, but the producers revealed to Deadline that release dates will depend on the pandemic, vaccinations and the sheer speed of production. Most likely, the series will return to HBO in late 2021 or early 2022.
