Summer nights, relaxed atmosphere, scented candles and… the buzzing of mosquitoes! If you feel like you're always their favorite dinner, you're not alone. But do you know that not everyone is equally attractive to these little vampires? Get the scientific background and find out which blood type mosquitoes really love. So - which blood type do mosquitoes prefer?

Research has shown that mosquitoes have their favorites. Yes, you heard that right! These little bloodsuckers don't just sting all over the place. Their selection is based on a variety of factors – from body odor, the amount of carbon dioxide you exhale, to – you guessed it – your blood type. So - which blood type do mosquitoes prefer?

And the winner is… blood type 0!

If you have blood type 0, you are a real magnet for mosquitoes. A study from the Journal of Medical Entomology revealed that mosquitoes land on people with blood type 0 almost twice as often as those with blood type A. Blood type B falls somewhere in between, while those with blood type A are the least attractive to these insects. .

The chemistry of attraction

Why are people with blood type 0 so attractive to mosquitoes? The answer lies in the chemicals we emit. Our skin secretions contain specific signals related to antigens in our blood that literally enchant mosquitoes. People with blood type 0 excrete more substances that act as strong "attractors" for these little nuisances.

How to avoid spots?

Don't worry, all is not lost if you have blood type 0. There are some simple tricks to reduce the number of dots. Use repellants, wear long-sleeved clothing and socks, and avoid outdoor activities at dawn and dusk. Natural repellants such as lemongrass, lavender and eucalyptus oils are also great choices.

Also, make sure that there is no stagnant water around your home, where mosquitoes like to breed. Empty water containers regularly and maintain a clean environment.
