Recipe: White Nutella – a wonderful twist on the classic spread

Homemade white Nutella

Ingredients

    Ingridients:
  • 1 cup raw hazelnuts
  • 1 cup white chocolate or chopped white chocolate
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 180 °C. Spread the hazelnuts on the baking sheet and roast for about 10-12 minutes or until the shells start to crack. Let them cool down a bit.
  2. When the hazelnuts have cooled enough, place them on a clean tea towel and rub together to remove as much of the skin as possible.
  3. Grind the roasted hazelnuts in a blender until they have a smooth, buttery consistency. This may take a few minutes, so be patient.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt the white chocolate until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add melted white chocolate, powdered sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the hazelnut butter in a food processor. Mix until everything is well combined and the mixture is silky smooth.
  6. Taste the white Nutella and adjust the sweetness by adding more powdered sugar if desired. Stir again.
  7. Place the homemade white Nutella into a clean jar with a tight-fitting lid. Store it in the fridge and it will keep for a few weeks.
