City Zoos: Prague, Czech Republic #1

How to introduce the animals that live in our forests to the child? Let alone exotic species from other continents, endangered animal species or even extinct giant dinosaurs? Let's take them to the zoo! The Ljubljana Zoo, located in a landscape park, offers a great insight into the animal world, and with children we can get to know some of the most interesting ZOOs that are famous for their history, architecture and, of course, their inhabitants.

The Czech capital has one the best zoos in the world. In 1881, on the occasion of the wedding of the Habsburg prince Rudolph and the Belgian princess Stephanie, a zoo was opened in the area of Troja, on the slopes of the hill above the Vltava river, which today extends over 45 hectares, and it is home to representatives of the 696 animal species. Prague Zoo Zoo dust boasts enviable successes in its long history. Already in 1938, they received their first increase Andean condors in captivity, and today they are most proud that through their very successful program in Mongolia again inhabited by wild horses, which were last seen in the wild in 1966. The best view of the zoo is from the chairlift, which is especially popular with children. In addition to gorillas, orangutans, a herd of elephants, hippos and other representatives of the wild, the best view of the animals is provided by the giraffes' home, with panoramic windows, and a huge fenced area where we can watch tropical birds in flight and nesting.
