2. Movie: Gone Girl (2014)


In the center of the story are former New York writer Nick Dunne and his wife Amy, once a "cool babe", who are now trying to weather the recession in the American Midwest. The couple is characterized by a quickly noticeable curve of modern marital happiness. But on their fifth wedding anniversary, Amy disappears - and that curve splits into a maze of cracks. Nick becomes the prime suspect, behaving strangely and suspiciously.

3. Movie: Birdman (2014)


Riggan Thomson is a former Hollywood star known for his film portrayal of the superhero Birdman. From a point far from the peak of success, he is now trying to return to the stage with an ambitious Broadway show. He hopes that with this risky move he will establish himself as a full-fledged artist. Shortly before the play's premiere, however, problems begin to pile up, as one of the actors is injured in a freak accident during rehearsals. In his place, they hire actor Mike Shiner, who guarantees success, and the project brings a lot of personal eccentricities. The closer the premiere gets, the more insecure Riggan is, having invested all his personal and professional credibility in the project to top it off

4. Movie: Edge of Tomorrow (2014)


At war with aliens and the last unsuccessful battle that seals the fate of humanity. But on the battlefield, just before his death, Private Bill accidentally acquires an alien time-skip ability, which causes him to constantly return to the time of the start of the invasion. His incredible story is heard by special forces member Rita, who begins to train the inexperienced Bill into a perfect warrior in order to change the course of fateful events.

5. Movie: The imitation Game (2014)


The film tells the little-known story of Alan Turing, the genius mathematician who he was British Army hired during World War II to decipher the messages of the German Enigma cipher machine. Turing embarked on a tense battle against time with a motley crew of experts, but the success he eventually achieved had to remain a closely guarded state secret. His work significantly helped shorten the Second World War and saved many lives, and the machine he invented is considered the prototype of the modern computer. In 1952, Turing was arrested and convicted of homosexuality. Two years later he committed suicide.

6. Movie: The Theory of Everything (2014)


Stephen Hawking, the world-famous physicist, is placed in the center of the movie The Theory of Everything. The relationship between the now 72-year-old author of ground-breaking theories on the origin of space and time and his first wife, Jane Hawking, is presented. The latter is also the author of the book autobiography, which served as the basis for the creation of the film. The Theory of Everything is such a touching story of a couple overcoming unimaginable obstacles with love.

7. Movie: Force Majeure – Tourist (2014)


A young Swedish family spends a short vacation in the French Alps. The sun is shining, the ski resort is beautiful and dad finally has time for the baby. During lunch on the terrace of the restaurant, a violent avalanche suddenly turns everything upside down. It turns out to be a false alarm, but the father's impulsive and unexpected reaction shakes the world of this seemingly perfect family to its foundations.

8. Movie: Whiplash (2014)


The story focuses on a promising 20-year-old drummer who arrives at an elite New York music school, the best institution of its kind in the country. Andrew lives for music and when he is not practicing his instrument he prefers to listen to jazz. His only friend is his understanding father, with whom he occasionally catches a movie or has a little debate about everyday things. Andrew is not interested in average, because he wants to become one of the best jazz drummers, and he is ready to fight hard for his goals. Shortly after arriving at school, the boy attracts the attention of Terence Fletcher, the most notorious professor in the entire school, with his drumming. Fletcher leads the school's jazz band, with which he has won several important competitions, so no one can fault him for his professionalism. Much more controversial are his teaching methods, which can be described as brutal without hesitation. Psychological games, yelling, insults, teasing, and in some cases even physical violence, all these are Fletcher's educational and educational receipts.

9. Movie: Two Days, One Night (2014)


When Sandra's phone rings on Friday, she learns that she will lose her job. This is how her colleagues decided by voting. Now she has exactly one weekend to convince them, with her husband's unwavering encouragement, to sacrifice their own raise for her job. As always, the Dardenne brothers refrain from judgment and condemnation, while asking one of the most pressing questions of today: can we and can we still convince the modern worker to choose solidarity at a time when it is difficult to afford it.

10. Movie: Hyena (2014)


A film that is relatively fresh, but we definitely recommend watching it, as it is a typical story about a corrupt policeman and the underworld.
