The new smallest Mazda 2 drove up to us, which has grown a little in almost all directions, and in addition to more space and equipment, it offers an exceptional set of assistance systems for the segment. Prices start at ten thousand, and there are as many as seven equipment packages to choose from right from the start, which bring an above-average amount of equipment and three engines. Diesel comes a bit later.

Mazda 2 is Mazda's smallest model it does not need a special presentation in the offer, nor the placement in which class it belongs. It is one of the most typical representatives of the B-segment, which in the past kept a little in the background and "regrets" on buyers, which are appreciate the difference, quality and wanted to drive a less ready-made model into the garage.

The new generation of Mazda, after cooperation with Ford and Fiesta in the previous generation, is now presenting completely independent model, which in many ways reminiscent of larger ones sisters Mazda brand models and it also borrows many parts and looks from them. On the outside, it works so commendably (seen from the front) as a scaled-down Mazda 3, but it also brings to the segment, as the first Mazda model in history, an important technical innovation in the form of full LED lights.

From the side, the Mazda 2 doesn't look so much like its bigger sister Mazda 3, which is understandable given the dimensions and design, but the extremely dynamic side line and the equally finished rear, which drags below-average transparency to the sides and back, are surprising. A new one Mazda 2 otherwise, it stretched in practically all directions, where the new meter in length shows 4,060 millimeters or 140 more than before. The wheelbase has also increased by 80 millimeters and the height by 20 millimeters. The only one unchanged aspect remained width, where the number stops at 1,695 millimeters.

As expected, the interior, like the exterior, was completely redesigned, and as for the design of the center console, we also see a departure from the current Mazda interior architecture. He embraces the console only one round vent on the left side while it is changed the right one such rectangular shape, with which they made sure that this part of the interior does not seem so crowded. In terms of compatibility, opinions will be divided in the future, but it is certainly true that the new duo got a lot higher quality materials and a more premium feel to the interior, the latter of which is largely related to the equipment package.

There are quite a few of them now seven, only the basic nameless does not have air conditioning, but when we climb up the ladder, the equipment quickly adds: cruise control and bluetooth (from the third), 15-inch alloy wheels, a seven-inch central screen and the HMI controller from the fourth. Fifth in line, the hazumi means a more colorful attraction package, which adds a rain sensor, parking aids and heated front seats. In the fifth, you get plenty of advanced technology, where the already standard i-stop and LDWS systems are complemented by: full LED lights, revolution top i-eloop system, head up projection, RVM and RCTA systems, smart key and button to start the vehicle and smart brake automatic braking.

The main difference compared to the three, as far as the dashboard is concerned, are the air vents, where the central part is surrounded by a round air vent on the left, while the right one is nicely integrated into the molding that continues towards the passenger. This makes it look less cluttered, although not everyone will like this design.

The range of engines currently includes three petrol engines, all of which are half a liter in size and with a power of 55, 66 and 85 kilowatts respectively, and in the summer the offer will be strengthened by an equally large diesel with 77 kW and only 89 grams of CO emissions2. The gearbox is basically a five-speed manual, only the most powerful petrol and diesel have a higher gear ratio. In combination with the G90 gasoline engine, the customer will be able to think of an automatic transmission for an additional payment of 1,700 euros.

Prices for the Mazda 2 start with the nameless equipment package and G75 engine designation at 9,990 euros, and 11,190 and 11,990 euros will be enough for the equally driven emotion and challenge. Switching to the attraction package will cost you another thousand, and switching to the G90 engine version will cost you an additional 1,900 euros. The surplus of the offer for now, when there is no diesel CD105 version of the G115 revolution top in the offer, for which already concrete 18,390 euros must be deducted.
