Recipe: Elderberry syrup

A simple recipe for elderberry syrup with which you will always have a natural and refreshing drink at hand. In spring, it's time to go to the blooming nature and collect fragrant elder flowers, from which we prepare a sweet syrup, which, when diluted, conjures up warm childhood memories...

With some skill, we can prepare elderberry syrup ourselves and delight our guests with it. Diluted elderflower syrup is not only full of flavor, but also has healing powers, as it relieves problems with colds and respiratory inflammation, and it also works well as a mild laxative.

Recipe for elderberry syrup:

Ingridients:

  • 50 elderflowers
  • 3 liters of water
  • 3 kg of sugar
  • 50 g of citric acid
  • organic lemons (slices)
  • some bottles

Preparation:

Pour water and sugar into a huge container, which we place on the fire. Boil and set aside. Allow to cool, then add citric acid and mix well. Add the flowers and lemon slices to the fresh water, half cover with a lid and leave in the cold for at least two days. Pour the syrup through a strainer and a funnel into bottles or bottles and store in the refrigerator.
