The jubilee 70th Cannes Film Festival, which is considered the most prestigious in the world, is over. As every year, the events ended with the presentation of awards, including the main one - the Golden Palm.
This one went into the hands of the film The Square, Swedish the director by Ruben Östlund, which impressed European film fans several years ago with the film Force Majeure (2014). She became the best director Sofia Coppola, the daughter of an even more famous director Francis Ford Coppola, which presented itself at the festival with a drama The Beguiled, which will be shown in Slovenian cinemas next month. It's Coppola only another woman director with this prestigious award in the history of the festival.
The stars celebrated in the acting categories Joaquin Phoenix and Diane Kruger, while he celebrated in the Special View category Iranian the director To Mohammad Rasoulof with a movie A Man of Integrity. Best case scenario belonged to two films The Killing of the Sacred Deer, Greek the director George Lanthimos, and You Were Never Really Here, Scottish directors Lynne Ramsay. The film won the jury prize Loveless, the Russian Oscar winner Andrei Zvyagintsev.
The prizes were awarded by a jury, which this year was chaired by a Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, but we could still find in it Will Smith, Jessica Chastain, Maren Ade, Paola Sorrentino and other.
