⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👩🏽Blessed Teresa of Calcutta 🙏 for us. 👶🏻Birth name: Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu 🎉Feast day September 5 🗓1910-1997 📍Born in Skopje, Macedonia, 🇲🇰 to Albanian heritage. 🤷🏻‍♀️❓🇮🇳Patron Saint for doubters and of Calcutta 👇🏼 • Her father, a well-respected local businessman, died when she was eight years old, leaving her mother, a devoutly religious woman, to open an embroidery and cloth business to support the family. Agnes left home in September 1928, for the Loreto Convent in Rathfarnam (Dublin), Ireland, where she was admitted as a postulant and received the name of Teresa, after her patroness, St. Therese of Lisieux. She was sent by the Loreto order to India and arrived in Calcutta on 6 January 1929 where she joined the Loreto novitiate in Darjeeling. She made her final profession as a Loreto nun on May 24, 1937, and thereafter was called Mother Teresa. On September 10, 1946, on a train journey, Mother Teresa received what was the "call within a call," which was to give rise to the Missionaries of Charity family. The aim and mission she would give to her new institute was: "to quench the infinite thirst of Jesus on the cross for love and souls" by "labouring at the salvation and sanctification of the poorest of the poor." On October 7, 1950, the new congregation of the Missionaries of Charity was erected as a religious institute for the Archdiocese of Calcutta. From the late 1960s until 1980, the Missionaries of Charity expanded in their reach across the globe and in their number of members. The first foundation outside India opened in Cocorote, Venezuela, in 1965. The society expanded, as Mother Theresa opened homes in Australia, the Middle East, North America, Europe, Africa, and in almost all communist countries. Mother Teresa was never able to open a foundation in China despite her efforts. In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. There was a heroic side of this great woman that was revealed only after her death. Her interior life marked by an experience of a painful feeling of being separated and rejected by God. The fact that a nun who dedicated her life to the Catholic Church was on the list is not surprising. The founder of the Order of the Missionaries of Love is known above all for the fact that she took care of the malnourished, sick and dying with all her powers.

Immanuel Kant

Immanuel Kant (1724–1804) is the central figure in modern philosophy. He synthesized early modern rationalism and empiricism, set the terms for much of nineteenth and twentieth century philosophy, and continues to exercise a significant influence today in metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, political philosophy, aesthetics, and other fields. The fundamental idea of Kant's "critical philosophy" – especially in his three Critiques: the Critique of Pure Reason (1781, 1787), the Critique of Practical Reason (1788), and the Critique of the Power of Judgment (1790) – is human autonomy. He argues that the human understanding is the source of the general laws of nature that structure all our experience; and that human reason gives itself the moral law, which is our basis for belief in God, freedom, and immortality. Therefore, scientific knowledge, morality, and religious belief are mutually consistent and secure because they all rest on the same foundation of human autonomy, which is also the final end of nature according to the teleological worldview of reflecting judgment that Kant introduces to unify the theoretical and practical parts of his philosophical system. #immanuelkant #kant #philosophy #science #rationalism #knowledge #didyouknow #sabiasque #culturageneral #painting #portrait #history #picoftheday #datoscuriosos #philosopher #modernphilosophy #icon #ciencia #pintura #sabiasque #brilliant #intelligent #smart #trivia #oldpainting
