In 2016, the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup took to the race tracks. Experience was then accumulated until the 2018 season, when Peugeot decided on a new racing car based on the "civilian" Peugeot 308 GTi. The new Peugeot 308 TCR racing car embodies a new philosophy, has a wider gap and a specially optimized chassis.
The heart of the new Peugeot 308 TCR remains familiar 1.6 liter turbo powered gasoline engine, which has 350 horsepower, at 6000 revolutions per minute and 420 Nm of torque, which is available from 3000 revolutions per minute further. The transfer is via 6-speed sequential gearbox transfers to front wheel pair. Under 18-inch rims are powerful brakes with calipers made of aluminum. The exterior has been significantly changed compared to the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup due to more efficient aerodynamics and better cooling of the brakes and other elements. In order to bring the car closer to the ground, they installed it on the back huge spoiler.
Peugeot Sport has optimized its latest racing car for the TCR series and the international “touring car” competitions, among which we also find the famous German VLN and 24-hour endurance tests. The Peugeot 308 TCR has to be deducted before taxes 109,000 euros. The Peugeot 308 TCR will have some serious competition on the track, as it will line up side by side Volkswagen Golf GTI, Hyundai i30 N, Honda Civic Type R, Renault Megan RS and Audi RS3 LMS. In addition, there are rumors that they may join them Volvo and A half-year-old, who are jointly designing a car that will meet TCR racing requirements.
