An apple a day keeps the doctor away - but only if we eat the whole thing, including the seeds.
Well, at least according to the study, which you performed on Technical University in Graz, Austria, where the good Lactobacillus bacteria were discovered in the seeds and core of the apple. These are also usually found in probiotics.
Good bacteria were recorded in the research in stalk, peel, flesh and seeds and most of the friendly bacteria were found in the latter. People who throw away the core of an apple so as not to accidentally eat the seed are said to reduce the number of microbes ingested from 100 million to 10 million. The researchers also found that they have organic apples more bacteria in general and therefore also have more good bacteria compared to non-organic apples.
Apple seeds contain the chemical compound amygdalin, which creates the poison cyanide, when apple seeds are crushed and eaten. According to the team of experts behind this research, they should crushing and consuming hundreds of seeds, much more than is found in one apple, to make cyanide dangerous for us.
