BASF finances sustainable startup ideas from Slovenia and the wider region

The leading European force in the field of research and development and the largest German chemical company BASF is announcing a regional competition, with which it wants to invest in the domestic startup scene, and especially in startups whose solutions contribute to sustainable development.

Air quality is one of the biggest challenges of modern times and a topic that humanity is paying more and more attention to. Franko notes that the lack of funds is the most common reason that individual ideas are not implemented, and emphasizes that BASF will enable start-up companies to further develop their ideas with financial support. "We often hear news about someone's good idea, but rarely do we see what happened to it afterwards. There are also many projects that we didn't even get a chance to hear about, because due to the lack of initial funds of their creators, they remained only on paper. Whether the idea is about energy efficiency in homes, air cleaning products, reducing exhaust gases or something else, BASF offers financial support. We want the not-yet-established innovators to have the opportunity to develop their projects to the end," explains Franko.

Franko adds that he will the best idea is awarded with at least 5,000 euros: “BASF has one of the largest R&D departments in the world and can support the development of a startup from start to finish. Of course, as in any big startup competition, an investor can choose to support several good ideas or not support any of them. Otherwise, regardless of the final decision, BASF will allocate funds in the amount of 5,000 euros for the best solution in the opinion of the expert jury."

At the competition BASF Start-up Science can collaborate with their startup idea individuals or groups between the ages of 18 and 35, and the project can be in an initial or advanced stage of development.
