BMW Motorrad is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a special version of its legendary R18 motorcycle, designed by Kingston Custom founder Dirk Oehlerking and named "The Crown". This unique motorcycle reflects Oehlerking's passion for innovation and aesthetics, which is reflected in strong, elegant and futuristic lines.
To create The Crown, Oehlerking started with a new BMW R18 and completely modified it. With the help of hard foam and cardboard, he designed the original shape, which gave him inspiration for strong and elegant lines. A key element of The Crown is the use of 2mm-thick aluminum sheet metal, from which the 8-liter fuel tank, bodywork and double-sided swingarm with central shock absorber were fabricated.
Oehlerking and his team carefully cut, rolled and shaped the aluminum sheet to create unique design elements, including two hand-formed stainless steel exhaust manifolds. The motorcycle has also been fitted with the BMW logo with a small crown adorning the fuel tank, and details such as the lamp, switches and footrest system have been refined to ensure perfect harmony with the overall design.
The entire The Crown motorcycle is covered with a special champagne platinum finish with a matte pearl texture that gives it a luxurious and unique look. The result is a motorcycle that stands out with its creative design, embossed aluminum elements and a special spring mechanism that stands out from its resemblance to a surfboard.
