BMW presents the BMW Neue Klasse concept, which promises a revolution in the design and technology of electric vehicles.

When we think of BMW, we imagine power, elegance and innovation. With the latest concept, BMW Neue Klasse, BMW does not disappoint. This car is not only a vision of the future, but also a tribute to the brand's history and heritage.

BMW in Vision Dee already offered a glimpse into the future of BMW electric vehicle design, albeit a radical one. Now, at the IAA Mobility 2023 auto show in Munich, a “Neue” interpretation of this concept is presented with several features that will actually go into production.


BMW Vision Neue Klasse it retains the basic shape of the previous i Vision Dee, but with more substance. A tilting “Rhino” hood highlights the front end of this vehicle, with two illuminated horizontal louvres that extend all the way to the end of the bumper, which houses angled LED lights. BMW uses 3D printing for many of the lighting elements featured here.

BMW Neue Klasse: is a clear indication of what the next generation of BMW vehicles will look like. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Management Board of BMW AG, emphasizes that the concept combines innovation in the fields of electrification, digitalization and circularity.

The vehicle's exterior design features elements that will be characteristic of the various Neue Klasse models. It is clear, elegant and timeless. The new, fully electric driving architecture opens up new possibilities for interior design. Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, explains that the design of the Neue Klasse is so advanced that it feels as if they have skipped an entire model generation.

BMW describes the design as “almost monolithic,” delivering a 30 percent increase in range and 25 percent more efficiency than any of the current EV brands. Together with BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology, it promises 20 percent higher density, 25 percent higher efficiency and 30 percent faster charging. Range is not listed, but BMW has previously stated that 1,000 kilometers of range is not out of the question.

Inside the Neue Klasse is BMW's latest iDrive interface, which is projected onto a parallelogram-shaped screen. BMW is also introducing the “Panoramic Vision” function, which will debut on the production Neue Klasse and works as a complement to the traditional head-up display. Analog controls are kept to a minimum, and interaction between man and car takes place via BMW Panoramic Vision, Central Display and multifunction buttons on the steering wheel.

The Neue Klasse cabin as a whole opts for a minimalist retro aesthetic. Beautiful corduroy seats in mustard yellow match the yellow accents on the dash and door panels.

The BMW Neue Klasse will go into production in 2025 at BMW's plant in Debrecen, Hungary, and the EV is expected to be on the road by 2026.
