After taking the Chinese market by storm - among the best-selling car models at the moment, with 200,000 sold in 2022 alone, the Han EV is ready to captivate European buyers with its performance, state-of-the-art technology and competitive price. Allow us to paint a picture of this electrifying sensation that is ready to give Tesla, Mercedes-Benz and other electric giants a lot of work and great competition. However, the features are accompanied by a rather high price in Europe compared to the price in China.

BYD Han EV performance and specifications

European Han EV it's nothing short of a masterpiece under the hood. With sporty all-wheel drive, it boasts a 380 kW (509 hp) engine that produces an astonishing 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque and can do a lot. With an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph), this electric car will leave you breathless. We won't exaggerate, the Kitjas didn't save money and "rolled" performance figures that are better than some sounding names of European competitors, such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE.

This car is powered by an 85.4 kWh liquid-cooled Li-ion LFP battery that provides a WLTP range of 521 km. Han EV doesn't stop there; it also has recovery technology and a heat pump. With AC charging options including 11kW and CCS-enabled DC charging of 150kW, you'll be back on the road in no time and pumping 30-80 % of “electric” juice in just 30 minutes. In addition, the car can serve as a "backup" battery for your home.

Dimensions and design of the BYD Han EV

The Han EV oozes sophistication, with its elegant exterior and spacious cabin, which really has a lot of space. Measuring 4995 x 1910 x 1495 mm (196.7 x 75.2 x 58.9 in), the sedan boasts a wheelbase of 2920 mm (115.0 in) and ground clearance of 130 mm (5.1 in). It has an insanely good drag coefficient of 0.233 Cd, front MacPherson struts, rear multi-link suspension and R19 size wheels.

Storage and practicality of the BYD Han EV

Offers 410 liters of luggage space, which provides enough space for your things. And although it does not support trailer towing, the Kakopa is equipped with front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Inside the cabin, the Han EV is a technological marvel. With a 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver display and a projector screen, you'll feel like you're in command of a spaceship. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support along with multi-function padding in the rear seat armrests make this sedan truly connected.

Safety is paramount with 11 airbags and a driver assistance package that includes multiple radars, six cameras and 12 sensors, including blind spot warning, high beam assist, advanced driver assistance system, lane departure warning, warning pre-collision, automatic emergency braking and traffic sign recognition.

BYD Han EV pricing and availability

The European version of the BYD Han EV was launched on September 28, 2022 and will hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2022. With a base price of 72.000 € is ready to fight on the demanding European market. The price for a Chinese product is not small. Especially when we find out how much money an identical car is sold for in China, where it is half the price.

In contrast to the Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQE, the BYD Han EV has some advantages. The Tesla Model S boasts a starting price of around 90,000 euros, while the Mercedes-Benz EQE hovers around 80,000 euros. In terms of range, the Han EV's WLTP range of 521 km is slightly behind the Tesla Model S (over 600 km) but comparable to the Mercedes-Benz EQE (around 540 km).
