ColorUp – a colored light that imitates the colors in the environment

The PEGA D&E design team from PEGATRON Corp. presents another interesting interactive design: the ColorUp table lamp, which mimics the colors of any physical object or surface.

Consciously or subconsciously, colors play an important role in our lives. Colors are stimulation, which proves how these affect our emotions at a given moment. Color combinations are used judiciously in advertising to create impulse buying, in painting to express passion and other emotions, and in many venues to create a desired atmosphere.

The bulb detects the color frequency from the surface and then shines in the same shade.

ColorUp is a table lamp made by designers SPOT D&E, with a very interesting bulb design. When the light bulb touches another surface, the color is absorbed at a certain frequency, allowing the light to shine in the same color. The primary material of the product is silicone, as its elastic property is ideal for creating a tactile surface that you can hold between your fingertips and squeeze. The colored light will be available on the market before the end of 2014, when its price will also be known.

You can see the detailed operation of the table lamp in the video below.
